PLEASE read this document through to help you understand the process, policies, pricing and suggestions to make your portrait session a wonderful experience.
We will be unable to extend the expiration date beyond June 3, 2013, if you do not call far enough in advance for availability. We anticipate April and May to book completely. PLEASE CALL NOW To book your session as we may not be able to accommodate all session time requests towards the end of the Groupon expiration (June 3rd, 2013)
What type of photography can my Groupon be used for?
Your Groupon can be used for any type of session including family, newborn, children, engagement and senior graduation. Please note, Groupons cannot be applied towards weddings, events or commercial photography nor may it apply to any previous type of session.
Can I use this for my senior pictures?
Yes! To provide diversity we would highly recommend upgrading to a longer session. Additionally, the Groupon will provide you the 2, 5×7‘s and 8 wallets, so you will need to purchase your yearbook photo or a package (yearbook photos are complimentary in any package! Packages begin at $250) so we can send that to school for you. We will make sure your senior pictures are amazing!
What’s included with this Groupon?
Your Groupon is for a portrait session (30 Min, including consultation, warm up time and camera time) with Shoot the Moon Photography at our Mequon or Delafield studio location. We are able to shoot outside in weather that is 40 degrees or warmer within walking distance of either studio. Also included is 2, 5×7 prints and 8 wallets in a single pose, OR you may select $100 towards the purchase of any prints, digital negatives or custom wall art (*most popular option). You may upgrade to a longer session for $35. We will go over the details when you call to book your session.
Can I combine Groupons?
You may purchase one Groupon per family to use for a single session. Groupons may not be combined but you may opt at the time of booking to upgrade to a longer session. We will cover all of the details when you call.
How many people can be in a session?
Your Groupon covers up to 5 people and/or pets. If you have more than that, it is an additional $25 per person.
May I go on-location?
Yes! Both of our studios having wonderful areas outdoors within walking distance. If you have a spot in mind that is not near a studio, we would encourage you to book a full session to allow for this.
How long is my photo session?
Your Groupon session is 30 minutes (including consultation) long and will result in approximately 15-18 images shown at your personal viewing and ordering appointment to select from. If you wish to extend your session to allow for an additional outfit or background change and additional images, we will discuss upgrade options at the time of booking at a special rate. Included in your session is 2, 5×7’s and a sheet of wallets OR a $100 print credit.
May I substitute 5×7’s for a different size?
In order to be able to offer such a significant savings, the items may not be changed or substituted. If you need alternate products, we would suggest ordering a la carte and selecting the $100 print credit option instead of the included prints.
Where will my photo session take place? What locations are available?
At our studios in Mequon or Delafield, WI. Each studio hosts a variety of backgrounds and options for beautiful imagery. If you wish to do an on-location session away from the studio, we would encourage you to book a full session to allow for this time.
Can I change outfits partway through?
30 minute sessions allow for a single outfit/look but you can add additional outfits/looks by extending your session to accommodate.
How do I book?
That’s easy! Just call us at 262-240-9848 CALL NOW and we will match up a time that best suits your schedule. If you have a difficult schedule to work around, please call plenty of time in advance to allow the most options. Weekends and April and May WILL BOOK COMPLETELY full. I would suggest calling as soon as possible if you have a difficult schedule or need a specific date.
What is your cancellation policy? What if I need to reschedule?
Life happens, we know! Just call us at least 48 hours prior to your session to reschedule and allow us to service clients on our waiting list. Please note, cancellations made within 48 hours of your scheduled session will result in a $25 rebooking fee. Failure to show up for a scheduled appointment (either photo session or viewing & ordering appointment) will result in forfeiture of your Groupon.
Can I buy just one digital file?
Yes. Our single digital files are $295. You may purchase them as well as part of collections. When you purchase multiple digital files, the cost per file decreases. Your $100 Groupon credit can be applied to this, making a single digital file $195.
Can a digital file be used commercially?
Digital files are for personal and local professional use. If you need a commercial license (i.e. for something being reproduced or used in a larger print run) please contact us.
How far in advance do I need to book my session?
I suggest contacting us NOW if you have a difficult schedule or require an evening or weekend as those times are limited. If you are fairly flexible, about 3-4 weeks prior is probably sufficient. Be sure to book your session early to get the spot you want! Please note that if you do not call early and we are booked completely we cannot extend the expiration date. We have ample appointments available to accommodate all of the Groupon certificates sold, but popular times and months will book completely. Many people will wait until the last minute to call. We will have very limited times available in May and June.
What if I’m late for my appointment?
We have 30 minutes scheduled for your Groupon session (unless you have made arrangements for an upgraded timeframe) If you’re late it will cut into your session time and no one wants that! If you have not arrived or contacted us within 15 minutes of our scheduled start time, this will be considered a forfeited session. If in doubt, just give us a jingle at 262-240-9848.
How do I order?
At the time of your booking, we will also select a date for your viewing and ordering appointment. It’s essential that all decision makers are present at this time as your ordering will be completed during that time. This can happen within approximately 1 week after your photo shoot. During that time, we’ll go through your images and make the best decisions for your prints and other products. Our clients find this to be the most fun part of the whole experience.
Do I have to purchase anything in addition to what is included?
Of course not! But I really think you’ll want to once you see your beautiful images and the awesome products we can create with them! Portrait images make for perfect gifts, excellent holiday cards and gorgeous art for your wall! Our most popular products are canvas wall pieces, as they are timeless and beautiful.
What can I expect to spend?
Of course this largely depends on what you are looking for in terms of products, but most clients will select something for their wall (So beautiful!) plus a handful of smaller prints as gifts and often times an add-on product such as an album, image box or digital images. Many clients come in with expectations to have a “couple” of good images and are so happy to find many many more they simply love. We see this as a job well done! Many clients will choose to invest $500-1500+ and find that the best value lies in our packages and incentives. Packages begin at $250 with our most popular starting at $595.
What if I can’t make a decision?
We make it easy! As long as all decision makers are present, we use special software to help you narrow down the images and most clients do not find this to be a problem. If you truly cannot make up your mind, you may place a non-refundable deposit / minimum order commitment of $500 that applies 100% to your order if placed within 10 days. You are then able to remove a proof sheet from the studio. If your order is not completed within 10 days, your credit will decrease by $50 per week to cover the additional archiving services. Unordered images are removed 15 days after your viewing and ordering appointment if no deposit is placed. If you need a 2nd viewing and ordering appointment, it is $50 additional per appointment.
How do family and friends order?
By request, any images you order will be posted into a password protected online gallery for 1 week for family and friends to place their orders directly with us (that way you don’t have to be the order taker!) Many clients choose gifts for their family and friends. We have never had a grandparent say they didn’t adore a photo chosen for them!
How much do additional prints and products cost?
Small Prints start at $68 when purchased with a wall portrait or 6+ prints (and are often times lower when purchased in groups or packages) with collections starting at $250. Digital collections begin at $595. Our larger packages beginning at $950 include the lowest priced offerings and are our most popular.
We carry a full range of wall canvases, greeting cards, prints, albums and whatever other fun things I can put your images on!

Orders will be ready for pick up in about 3 weeks, with the exception of albums and wall images, but they’re so beautiful they’re worth the extra wait!
All orders can be picked up or you can have it shipped for an additional fee.
Can I combine the Groupon with another promotion?
Your Groupon is a pretty sweet deal, and cannot be combined with any other coupons, promotions or discounts.
Can I purchase the images on a disc?
Yes! The cost of these varies depending on the packages that are purchased and any additional products you choose to invest in. Many clients may even receive some digital negatives with our compliments. We will work with you to determine the best value for your investment.
I know a lot of people want this to make sure their images are safe and secure, and I archive any images that have been purchased for 1 year.
Do I own the copyright to the images?
Shoot the Moon Photography keeps the rights and ownership of all images. If you choose to purchase digital negatives, we will grant you a print release, allowing you to print them for personal use- not commercial use. Prints may not be scanned or copied.
What forms of payment do you accept?
